westbury show was unbelievable – the guys played something with the hook “if this is love i want my money back” – great groove – i wonder if you could tell me the name of that song – the band sounds soooo good after all this time – i’ve been seeing shows since 1970 – thanks for being you – regards – peter hefter
Thanks for the very kind words. That song is aptly titled “If This is Love, I Want My Money Back”. It is a nice groove and GE helps us kick it up a notch!
Keep checking the Hot Tuna iTunes section for latest updates.
The song could quite possibly appear on a CD in the near future, wink wink, nudge nudge.
Shanti
was at the Westbury show too and thought it was one of the best Tuna shows i’ve seen in many years. Looking forward to Jorma at the nofo festival on Long Island the end of the month.
Enter your comments here… westbury was the best tuna show I have seen. GE Smith adds a new dimension to their electric lineup. I hear a new cd is on the way. Does it have new material? Any plans to record and put out a live disc with this lineup?
I have been a fan since 1973 and have attended many many shows over the decades. Last nights asbury Park show had its moments but i thought the sound was a bit tired. Perhaps it was the heat or maybe it was me! It seems that the band lacks energy a lot of the times and the sound a bit crowded. G E was terrific and at times so was Jorma but Jack i’m sorry; to often now it seems as if your just along for the ride. i dont think you really stepped it up until the last song ; Hit Single #1. I know you rider ; hit single ; and water song were a few of my favorites. Im a hard core fan and as long as Tuna still can take it out on the road i’ll do my best to get out to a couple of shows .
the Asbury Park Stone Pony show Sunday night 7/18 was INCREDIBLE , hot jersey shore night but the band was way hotter!
JK’s 70 years old…& Jack ain’t too far behind him. Still, behind enough “Geritol”…the band can still belt it out. No, it ain’t the late 70s & it ain’t The Commack Arena. And I’m not 17 years old anymore, either. Things change. Still, Westbury was a good, tight show. Thanx, guys ! ” Keep On Truckin’ “
Yes i can remember going to Commack Arena to see Tuna back in the day. The Academy of Music ; Capitol theatre ; Portchester ; Centrum in Cherry Hill and everywhere in between. I love Hot Tuna music . Regarding the Asbury show ; maybe it was me ! If i have the time; the money and most importantly the energy i may try to make the Purchase show. Give me a swig of that Geritol!

Enter your comments here… I was privildged to see electric Tuna at the Palace Theatre, Waterbury, CT in 1973 or was it 72. Anyhow – great feeling, great show and seeing Papa John Creech with his electric bow sring was unreal.
Keep on truckin mama – truck my blues away! Wish I could reunite in New Haven – but can’t. l
Enter your comments here…!st show was at Stony Brook college gym-71,been to many since,Acadamy,Commack,Bardovon etc etc. Will be at Purchase, want to hear Police dog blues, only song (I think) never heard live.J &J, thanks for all the great memories, I’ll keep going as long as you can!
Fantastic show in York, PA. Everyone in the band was ON!
The Baltimore show was a blast. Steve Earle won the locals over and then Hot Tuna rocked the house. The band was incredibly tight and having GE Smith join in was amazing! Crowd wasn’t huge but they were loud and appreciative. Thanks guys!
Enter your comments here…saw jerry garcia band at the palace in waterberry back in early mid 70s. wat a show. maria muldaur with him. they did three sets that night.
Enter your comments here…Saw the show at the State Theatre–Awesome after all these years (35!). Had the opportunity to take my 24 yr old son who’s never been exposed to “real” rock n’ roll, delta blues. The show blew him away–I see a new Hot Tuna cult forming.
Enter your comments here…The Purchase show was so hot, I got blisters on my toes!
Enter your comments here…Was at Purchase, one of the best shows in memory. Before the show we met the folks that Genesis was dedicated to, it made the song very special, can’t get it out of my head, don’t want to.
Enter your comments here…Thank You. Last nights show was amazing. We were so grateful that you played Genesis. It was my ten year old son Declans first Hot tuna show and after the show as we were driving he said he is now “Tunafied”. We pulled over to high five him for that comment. Last nights show will always be an incredible Family memory for us! Thank You and Peace to You…
The Puchase show was sweet!! Cool crowd and the band was really tight. Like Sherry said it will always be a great family memory. I hope you guys are taping these shows. I would love to down load them from Hot Tuna iTunes if and when they’ll be available. Thanks again for the dedication and the autograph.
Attending the show at Jonathan’s in Ogunquit, ME last night. The first time I have seen any members from Hot Tuna live since JC was with the SVT band at a NYC show some 30 years ago. I never imagined that I would be seeing R&R icons in a dinner theater, but as surreal as it was the evening was a blast! Barry Mitterhof, GE Smith and Skoota were awesome.
Thanks guys and best wishes.
Electric Tuna at the Shubert in New Haven last Friday night – “they” don’t call it HOT Tuna for nothing. FABULOUS performance!. Best live rendition of “Miss you Rider” I ever heard. Thank you Jorma, Jack, Barry, Skooter and GE for a wonderful fabulous evening. Looking forward to another Tuna perfomrance in New London next Feb.
Steve Earle played beautifully – he’s got so much talent, but was a bit too preachy for my taste.
I saw the guys at the State Theatre last tour, in June, and again with Earle at Rams Head Live in Bmore. What a great performance at both shows. My girl had never seen Tuna and she was totally blown away by the first State show. GE adds an awesome element to the band’s sound. You guys look like you’re having a lot of fun up there and it makes for a better show. I’ve always wanted to hear “Come back baby” and you all closed the Bmore set with it; thank you so much for that! Playing Lightning Hopkins’ “Brand new companion” with Earle was also a highlight for me. I’m just 28 years old but I’ve been listening to Hot Tuna for years and I love it. Keep coming to DC!! Electric Tuna rocks the house!! I hope I can download the shows at some point… Keep on truckin’ and thanks for playing real music still!!
We had such a great time at the Purchase show, we couldn’t stop talking about it. We decided that one show this tour wouldn’t be enough so were heading to Albany to be Tunafied. Can’t wait!!!
Enter your comments here…Just saw Hot Tuna in Rochester, N.Y. On July 26. I’ve seen them before and thought they were great, but the show yesterday ROCKED. What a fantastic group of guys just having pure fun jamming! Can’t stop talking about it! The music you hear now a days is garbage compared to this!! GE Smith is awesome!! Keep touring your great!!
Any set lists on the way guys? Would love to see what else you all have been playing at these shows!
Thanks!
Jorma’s Blog has the setlists; http://jormakaukonen.com/cracksinthefinish/
Boston show was one of the most rockin’ spectacular shows I’ve ever been to. Energy was fabulous and every single member of the band was amazing. Wow. A real “supergroup”. Hope I can see the lineup again some day. (Would have LOVED to hear “Keep your Lamps Trimmed and Burning).
The show at the Egg in Albany, NY was HUGE! YOW!
Thank you Jorma and Barry for a great show at the NOFO Rock and Folk Festival. You were awesome. Now I have to make it to an electric show and see for myself what everyone else has commented on.
I saw Hot Tuna at the Bath Festival in 1970. I’ve been doing music full-on since a bit before then, but that’s still one of my best live music memories – I can still hear some of it in my head. One of my other best memories is Steve Earle at the Irish Centre, Leeds, round the time of the Exit 0 album. Steve, Jorma and Jack is a total dream – I hope you’re coming to the UK!
Looking forward to the shows at the Beacon, NYC Any hints on who your guests may be, anyone and everyone is fine with me.
Enter your comments here…guys try to make it back to colorado…….
Saw them at House of Blues in Beantown…………great great show, we loved every second, a great crowd that was rocking with the group. Best live show i’ve seen in years. The group is my favorite live group..
Enter your comments here…The show at the Shubert Theatre on 7/23/10 in New Haven was one the best I’ve heard. Can you tell me why they stopped playng so early – w/o an encore? Just curious. Thanks. Also, I will be at the Feb. 12 show at the Garde Arts Center in New London. It is billed as an electric blues show. Can you tell me anything more: band members, song list, etc. Thanks again.
I went to Jormas Birthday bash (fri night) and it was such a great show ..thank you so much and Happy Birthday…been a fan since the 70’s went to all the late shows at the Paladium..rock on!!!!
Thank you Jorma and Barry for a great show at the NOFO Rock and Folk Festival. You were awesome. Now I have to make it to an electric show and see for myself what everyone else has commented on.
Enter your comments here..I’m going to see ELECTRIC FHT this June,2011. My first Tuna concert in 35 Years!! Acoustic is fine but Tuna got it moving after the acoustic set and then going to electric. I saw the Commack,LI show back in mid 70’s. Remember Flo and Eddie opened, pissed off some fans doing a parody of Kung Foo Fighting and had a bottle thrown at them. Tuna came on ( maybe drummerless if I recall) and blew everyone away. ALSO, if you remember, Jorma kept playing riffs over and over and over. He said a few months later, someone spiked his drink with LSD. Jorma and Jack played like it was 30 Seconds Over Winterland the whole show.
THe Academy Of Music had great Tuna shows. who could not forget the supermarket supply of drugs in the mens bathroom.
The last time I saw Papa John with them was in the early 80’s in NJ. At one point in John’s Other, theatre lights fell almost nailing him on the head. That was the last string of electric shows before HT went acoustic. My Father’s Place,Calderon Concert Hall…..and then that was i for me.
So now Electric!! We’re all older, maybe slower, but still alive. And like the Dead in the 80;s till 95, they may have lost a little fizz but the songs will be great to hear.
Now where did I put that Double Dose album…………………….See you at the show!!!!! Ed NYC
